Laser Epilation

Alexandrite laser is the wavelength used in those with medium and light skin color.

Long Pulse Nd: YAG laser, with its 1064 nm wavelength, penetrates the tissue more easily than other lasers.

14 is used for long-term removal of unwanted hair on the face and body. The aim is to avoid damaging the surrounding skin while causing permanent damage to the hair follicle. Color cells (pigment) in the hair root absorb laser energy. The laser energy concentrated here burns the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding skin and tissue.

Laser light has visible or invisible light properties and does not exhibit radiation properties. The use of protective glasses during laser treatment is necessary and sufficient to protect against the harmful effects of laser beam.

Some of the hairs burned during laser treatment fall out immediately, while others are removed from the skin within 2-3 weeks. During treatment, many hairs are burned with each shot. Thus, large areas such as back, shoulders, arms, legs and face can be treated in a short time. It can also be applied to sensitive areas such as the nipple, upper lip and bikini area.

There are several types of laser devices produced for use in laser epilation. Lasers such as Alexandrite laser, Nd YAG laser, Diode laser and intense light systems such as IPL are among the devices used in epilation.

The Alexandrite laser applied in our office is the laser wavelength used in those with medium and light skin color.

All body areas can be treated with laser. In women, the upper lip, chin, bikini area, arm, leg and armpit areas are most commonly treated. For men, it is applied to the back, shoulders, chest and beard area.

Laser light energy is effective in the anagen phase of the hair. Only 20% of the hair on our body is in the anagen phase. Since the laser destroys only the hair in the anagen phase in each application session, it is not possible for a single laser session to permanently destroy the hair. In each epilation session, 15%-20% of the hair is permanently removed.

Laser epilation is largely permanent. In many patients, there is a 70-90% decrease in the amount of hair, and the color and thickness of the remaining hair decreases. After 4-6 sessions, there is a 70-90% reduction in hair. The hair becomes thinner and lighter colored. This decrease will continue for years.

In case of any disease related to body hormonal balance after laser epilation application during the person's life, hair may grow again due to the disrupted hormonal balance.

The duration of laser epilation is approximately 4-8 sessions for the armpit, leg and genital area, and 6-12 sessions for the face, arm and back areas, depending on the application area and the characteristics of the hair.

The hairs in the laser epilation application area should not have been waxed, tweezed or epilated in the last 20 days. Because the hair follicle that the laser will affect and destroy is severed, which reduces the effect of the laser. A razor can be applied to the application area 3 days before the session. It is sufficient for the hairs to be 1 mm long on the skin surface during the session. The hair in the application area should not be subjected to any procedures that would reduce the color of the hair, such as bleaching. Before the treatment, sunbathing, solarium and tanning creams should not be applied. Bronzed skin reduces the effectiveness of the laser and the risk of blemishes increases. The application is not performed in cases where drugs that increase sensitivity to light (retinoic acid, tetracycline, etc.) are used. Drug use information should be given to the physician.

It is expected to see redness after laser epilation application. Normally it should stop completely within a few hours following application. However, in sensitive people or on overdosed skin, a slight rash-like picture may occur. This situation resolves without scarring with 1-2 days of treatment. After laser epilation, light or dark discoloration of the skin may occur in special cases such as sunbathing or going to a solarium, or if there is a hereditary pigmentation problem. In general, these cases are temporary and disappear over time without leaving any trace behind. Sun protection must be applied after laser application.

Laser epilation systems are systems that work effectively on color. The closer to white your skin color is, the higher energy you can apply, which means the effectiveness will be higher. The closer to black the color of your hair in the areas where you apply the treatment, the higher the success of your application results.

One of the most important points in laser epilation applications is to correctly determine your skin type and determine and apply the appropriate energy level for the person. In order to determine this and to avoid the risk of permanent damage to your skin after the application, you should prefer applications performed under the control of specialist doctors.

The ultimate goal in laser epilation applications; It is to help you get rid of your unwanted hair to a large extent without causing any permanent damage to your skin.
